Quake jolts Zambales

MANILA, Philippines — A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Palauig town in Zambales early yesterday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

Phivolcs located the epicenter at 12 kilometers northwest of Palauig, with a depth of focus of 30 km. The earthquake was tectonic in origin and occurred at 2:26 a.m. yesterday.

Intensity 3 was felt in Masinloc, Iba and Botolan towns in Zambales.

Intensity 1 was recorded in San Marcelino, Zambales; Calumpit, Bulacan; Rizal, Nueva Ecija; Santa Ignacia, Tarlac, and the cities of Navotas and Malabon.
