PNP raids illegal crypto hub in Angeles

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — An illegal crypto trafficking hub, operating under the guise of a business process outsourcing (BPO) company, was dismantled during a raid in Angeles City last week.

According to the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, personnel from the CIDG, Police Regional Office 3 and other partner agencies raided the Wonso BPO Services in Barangay Santa Teresita, based on a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 58.

The warrant cited alleged violations of Republic Act 9208 (Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act) in relation to RA 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

In a report, the CIDG said a Korean, identified only as Lim, and two of his Filipino partners were arrested.
