2 Dawlah rebels dead in Maguindanao del Sur clash

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Soldiers shot dead two members of the Dawlah Islamiya in a brief encounter in Barangay Libutan in Mamasapano, Maguindanao del Sur on Sunday.
The Philippine Army and police investigators identified the two fatalities as Tahir Salim Suweb and Benladin Adi Kamid, both members of Dawlah Islamiya’s Hassan faction. Two others were injured and brought to a hospital for treatment.
Brig. Gen. Edgar Catu, Army 601st Infantry Brigade commander, said the gunfight erupted after four terrorists fired at personnel of the 33rd Infantry Battalion who were dispatched to validate their presence in Libutan.
