2 injured in Laguna market fire

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Two people were injured in a fire that destroyed 300 market stalls in Sta. Cruz, Laguna at dawn yesterday.
The victims, whose identities were not immediately available, were taken to the Laguna Medical Center for treatment of burns.
The fire destroyed mostly dry goods, particularly textiles, garments and footwear stored in the public market in Barangay V.
The fire broke out at around 5:45 a.m. and reached fourth alarm, according to Cesar Morfe, chief of the Sta. Cruz-Bureau of Fire Protection.
Responding firefighters declared the fire out at 9:41 a.m.
Arson probers have yet to determine the cause of the blaze.
