MANILA, Philippines —  A Pasig court has ordered alleged sex offender Apollo Quiboloy to return to the city jail by Feb. 12.

This was announced yesterday by Quiboloy’s legal counsel Israelito Torreon.

Quiboloy was hospitalized on Jan. 18 after he was diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia.

He was initially brought to the government-run Rizal Medical Center for evaluation.

After being diagnosed with pneumonia, doctors recommended his confinement in a hospital with more advanced medical equipment.

Torreon expressed disappointment over the court’s decision, stating that the defense team is planning to file a motion based on Quiboloy’s medical condition and “unique circumstances” as a detainee.

The trial for two counts of qualified human trafficking filed against Quiboloy and five others resumed yesterday at the Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 159.

According to Torreon, a cross-examination of a witness known as “Amanda” also continued.

Quiboloy, who remains confined in a hospital, attended the hearing through video conferencing, Torreon said.

Quiboloy is facing a non-bailable case of qualified human trafficking before the Pasig court.

He was also charged with violating Republic Act 7610, the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

The religious leader was transferred to the Pasig jail from the Philippine National Police Custodial Center at Camp Crame in November 2024.
