Go opens 163rd Malasakit Center in Muntinlupa
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go attended the opening of the 163rd Malasakit Center at the Ospital ng Muntinlupa on Wednesday, marking a significant expansion of the program aimed at streamlining medical assistance to the poor.
“This program will continue because patients should not face hardships. We should help them so they won’t have to line up at different agencies to ask for government assistance,” Go said.
“Let’s help the poor, the helpless and the hopeless who rely on the government. Let’s prioritize them,” he added.
During the opening, Go distributed to 690 hospital staff and 400 patients snacks, grocery packs, vitamins, masks, shirts, basketballs and volleyballs.
Select recipients received bicycles, shoes, mobile phones and watches.
After the event, Go assisted displaced workers in Muntinlupa and fire victims in Pasay and Manila.
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon said Go is a “man of action” instrumental in the establishment of Malasakit Centers in the city.
There are two Malasakit Centers in Muntinlupa.
Go, who chairs the Senate health committee, is the principal author of the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which institutionalized the Malasakit Center program.
There are 91 Malasakit Centers in Luzon, 30 in Visayas and 42 in Mindanao.
