2 held for gunrunning in Caloocan, Pasig

MANILA, Philippines — Two suspected gunrunners were arrested in Caloocan and Pasig on Friday.

In Caloocan, police apprehended a 23-year-old man in a sting in Barangay 175 at around 2:30 a.m.

Northern Police District director Brig. Gen. Rizalito Gapas said the suspect negotiated a deal with an undercover police officer for the sale of a .38-caliber handgun.

The suspect is facing criminal complaints for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.

In Pasig, police arrested a 34-year-old man said to be involved in gunrunning.

The suspect, whom police identified as alias Pido, was caught when law enforcers raided his residence in Barangay Bagong Ilog at around 7:22 p.m.

Police recovered a .45-caliber handgun and 0.20 grams of shabu valued at P1,360 from the suspect.
