CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — After hiding from the law for 16 years, a man wanted for murder was arrested in Lipa, Batangas over the weekend.

Sherwin Endaya, 47, was tagged as the principal suspect in the murder of Ruben Laydia Sr. in nearby Malvar town in April 2007.

Endaya was collared by a team of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Calabarzon in his alleged safehouse in Barangay San Carlos.

He said he eluded authorities for 16 years by constantly moving from one province to another.

“The arrest was a result of a two-month intensive surveillance and information gathering conducted by the tracker team,” Col. Jack Malinao, chief of the CIDG-Calabarzon, said.
