MANILA, Philippines — A woman accused of duping a police officer and a businessman of P51 million through her events company was arrested in Quezon City on Thursday.

Glenda Navarro, 54, was apprehended by operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) during an entrapment operation in a restaurant along Kalayaan Avenue in Barangay Diliman at around 8 p.m.

Navarro’s arrest was based on the complaint of a 24-year-old police lieutenant and a 25-year-old businessman, who allegedly lost their money in the suspect’s investment scheme.

The victims told police investigators the suspect enticed them to invest in her company, which is engaged in organizing concert events of foreign artists.

According to the victims, the suspect promised them a guaranteed 50 percent return on investment.

A series of transactions ensued wherein the victims gave P51 million. In return, Navarro issued post-dated checks.

However, the victims became suspicious when the checks issued by Navarro were marked as having been drawn from closed accounts.

The complainants asked the suspect to return the money, but she allegedly demanded P16 million in return.

The suspect was brought to the QCPD headquarters at Camp Karingal for investigation.
