Military truck rolls over; 10 soldiers injured

John Unson - The Philippine Star

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Ten Army troopers were injured when their truck rolled over in Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte on Sunday.

The soldiers were rushed to a hospital for treatment of injuries.

Four of them – Cpls. Daryl John Corand and Robin Samillano, and Pvts. Rolando Fundador and Marvin Agipo – were confined for further observation.

The rest were discharged after receiving treatment for minor injuries, according to Col. Glen Dulawan, Zamboanga del Norte police director.

The soldiers, who belong to the Army’s 106th Infantry Battalion, were headed toward the town proper when their vehicle developed engine trouble as they approached Barangay Penacio.

Corand reportedly lost control of the wheel, causing the truck to roll over.
