Vintage bomb found in Intramuros
MANILA, Philippines — A vintage bomb was dug up near a bank in the historic district of Intramuros, Manila on Friday.
The mortar was found near the bank at the corner of Muralla and Anda streets at around 4 p.m., according to a report from the Manila Police District (MPD)’s Intramuros community precinct.
A backhoe operator discovered the explosive while doing excavation work in the area, it noted.
Personnel of the Intramuros and Ermita police, as well as an officer of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) explosives and ordnance unit, retrieved the bomb.
It is currently in the PCG’s safekeeping, the MPD said.
