P245 million property destroyed in bus terminal fire
MANILA, Philippines — The five-hour fire that struck the Araneta Center bus terminal in Cubao, Quezon City on Thursday destroyed some P245 million worth of property, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported yesterday.
A civilian identified as John Grego, 27, was injured in the fire, according to the BFP.
Arson probers said the fire broke out at around 5:46 p.m. and reached Task Force Bravo at past 5 p.m.
The BFP said the fire started at the bus terminal’s sanitation barracks.
At least 60 fire trucks responded to put out the blaze: 30 from the BFP and 30 from volunteer groups.
Investigators said they have yet to determine what caused the fire.
Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board assured the public that the operation of public utility vehicles affected by the fire would resume today. –Romina Cabrera
