DHSUD, Bataan ink housing project deal

Elizabeth Marcelo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A housing project intended for informal settlers in Mariveles, Bataan has been signed between the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the provincial government.

Based on a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed on Saturday, the Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG Fund will extend housing loans for the beneficiaries of the project.

The Pag-IBIG Fund is the key shelter agency of the DHSUD.

The MOU requires the provincial government to identify the project beneficiaries based on the requirements set by the Pag-IBIG Fund.

The signing was followed by a capsule-laying ceremony at the project site in Barangay Alasasin, Mariveles.

The project is part of the government’s “Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program: Zero ISF 2028,” which aims to address the country’s housing backlog of around 6.5 million units.

The project targets to build one million housing units every year until 2028.

After the signing, DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar inspected four township sites in nearby Orion town to oversee the implementation of the 1Bataan Village project started by the previous administration.

The project aims to build 2,936 housing units for the relocation of informal settlers living along the danger zones.

The town of Orani and Balanga City will benefit from the 1Bataan Village project.

The Pambansang Pabahay program kicked off in Quezon City last week with the groundbreaking of a housing project at the Harmony Hills Terraces in Barangay Batasan Hills.
