2 die in Northern Mindanao road mishaps

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Two persons have died while 19 others were injured in separate vehicular accidents in this city and in Bukidnon, police reported yesterday.

Amerelio Oberto died at the scene after his motorcycle collided with a truck in Barangay Lumbia in this city on Monday.

Oberto was headed to Talakag in Bukidnon when he figured in the accident.

Police arrested truck driver Avelino Palmes Jr., 61.

On Sunday, a woman died after a bus with 47 people fell on its side in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.

Perena Salimbaon, 64, died at the scene due to severe injuries, according to town police chief Maj. Carlito Chua Jr.

Nineteen others were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Driver Anthony Monterola told police the bus developed engine trouble, causing him to lose control of the wheel.
