Dengue cases up 56% in Negros Occidental
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Dengue cases in Negros Occidental rose by 56 percent from Jan. 1 to April 16 compared to the same period last year.
The Department of Health (DOH) said Negros Occidental ranked first among provinces in Western Visayas with the highest number of dengue cases at 238 with two deaths.
In this city, 70 dengue cases with two deaths were recorded, an increase of 11 percent compared to the same period last year.
Iloilo ranked second among provinces in Western Visayas with the most number of dengue cases at 131 followed by Antique, 128; Bacolod, 70; Capiz, 61; Aklan, 26; Iloilo City, 24, and Guimaras, 11.
Western Visayas logged 714 dengue cases, with 14 deaths. The cases recorded during the same period last year were 689.
Guimaras and Iloilo City logged zero deaths due to dengue.
