DAR distributes e-titles in Western Visayas
MANILA, Philippines — For the first time, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) distributed electronic land titles or e-titles to agrarian reform beneficiaries in Western Visayas.
The award of 179 e-titles to the farmers was part of the DAR’s “Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling” or SPLIT project.
“The e-titles issued to farmers in Ibajay, Aklan, were made possible under the Land Registration Authority’s new computerized system. These are the first e-titles that will also be distributed to our farmer-beneficiaries nationwide,” DAR Secretary Bernie Cruz said.
The SPLIT project intends to fast-track the parcelization of collective certificates of land ownership award (CCLOAs) of about 1.37 million hectares located in different areas in the country.
“Under the SPLIT project, the DAR will parcelize the awarded lands covered by a CCLOA. Each farmer-beneficiary will be given an individual land title based on the actual area of the land he is tilling,” DA-Western Visayas chief Sheila Enciso said.
