PNP COVID-19 cases hit 3,262
MANILA, Philippines — The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Philippine National Police (PNP) swelled to 3,262 yesterday.
In its latest report, the PNP said 450 more of its personnel contracted the virus while 31 have recovered. The death toll remains at 125.
PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said police personnel infected with COVID but are asymptomatic are allowed to quarantine at home.
Carlos clarified that police officers on home quarantine must regularly update their doctors on their body temperature, oxygen level and blood pressure to ensure they are given proper assessment if they are improving or not.
The patients must also inform PNP medical workers if they have other medical conditions and the medicines they are taking, Carlos said.
PNP data show 216,166 personnel are fully vaccinated while 7,824 have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
The PNP said 1,343 remain unvaccinated, with 775 refusing to get inoculated without valid reasons.
