MANILA, Philippines — After recording zero COVID-19 cases for two days, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said 12 of its personnel have contracted the virus in the past two days.

Eight PNP personnel tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday and four on Tuesday, bringing the active cases to 22.

The death toll remains at 125.

The PNP has recorded 42,257 COVID cases since last year.

A total of 215,500 police personnel have been fully vaccinated while 8,994 are waiting for their second dose.

The PNP said 1,616 of its members remain unvaccinated.

Meanwhile, in Cebu City, only five active cases, all under home quarantine, were recorded yesterday.

Councilor Joel Garganera, city government Emergency Operations Center deputy chief implementer, said none of the 370 people who underwent COVID testing on Tuesday was found infected.

The Department of Health-Central Visayas office said that even with continuous testing, the positivity rate or the percentage of people who were found infected among those tested remains low. - Caecent Magsumbol
