COTABATO CITY, Philippines — An alleged mentally ill man beheaded his nine-year-old daughter on Christmas Day in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.
William Bicong reportedly used a machete in decapitating the victim, police said.
The suspect was arrested shortly after the crime that occurred at their house in Barangay Malpoc.
Relatives said Bicong was suffering from a mental condition and was often restive and agitated.
Village officials and watchmen apprehended Bicong and turned him over to the police.
Authorities want the suspect examined by a psychiatrist to determine his mental state.
