PNP to bare results of cocaine bet probe

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos yesterday vowed to reveal the result of its investigation of a presidential candidate President Duterte accused of being a cocaine user.

In a statement, Carlos said the PNP Drug Enforcement Group’s information gathering and validation are ongoing, “but whatever the result, the PNP is ready to make it public.”

 Duterte has not named the presidential aspirant but Carlos earlier said they have an idea who it might be.

Several presidential candidates have submitted themselves to drug tests in response to Duterte’s claim that one of them is using cocaine.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno tested negative while former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. presented a negative test result for drug use.

Another candidate, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, released his drug test results taken in July and September, which stated he is negative for illegal drugs.

Carlos said the PNP would investigate local candidates who would test positive for drug use.

Meanwhile, St. Luke’s Medical Center addressed on Thursday questions on why the printed result of Marcos’ test did not carry the SLMC logo.

“The format of the printed test result is standard and common among all healthcare facilities authorized by the Department of Health to conduct dangerous drug tests,” read the SLMC statement.
