PDEA warns of recruitment scam

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) warned applicants against an online scam asking money for swab test results as part of requirements for recruitment.

The agency issued the statement yesterday after an apparent breach of the PDEA Academy’s e-mail account resulted in emails requiring applicants to pay P1,500, sent throug Gcash or coins.ph, for a swab test.

PDEA denied it asked applicants to pay for the swab test before they are accepted to the agency’s drug enforcement officers basic course.

“PDEA does not require fees in the submission of application documents from applicants or otherwise,” it said in a statement.

The PDEA Academy’s official e-mail account is [email protected].

The agency urged the public to report people claiming to have connections with its recruitment program.
