206 more cops infected

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police recorded 206 new COVID-19 infections yesterday, bringing to 1,776 the total number of active cases in the PNP.

Several PNP personnel, mostly in their 30s, are battling severe COVID-19 in hospitals.

Among them is a 39-year-old police official from Benguet, who has been in the hospital for two weeks. The patient has been on oxygen inhalation, according to the PNP report.

Another patient, a 34-year-old policewoman, is battling pneumonia caused by COVID-19.

Three police officers infected with the virus in Metro Manila are recuperating in the hospitals.

A policeman assigned in Batangas is on his third day of hospitalization due to shortness of breath, cough and pneumonia, the PNP said.
