LPA to bring rain over Bicol, VisMin

MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) that entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Sunday afternoon is expected to bring rain over Bicol, Mindanao and the Visayas, state weather forecasters said yesterday.

In a weather bulletin issued at 4 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was spotted 335 kilometers east of Borongan, Eastern Samar.

Although the weather disturbance was still far from the country’s land mass, it is still expected to bring scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Caraga region, Northern Mindanao and Zamboanga peninsula as well as in Bicol and the Visayas, PAGASA senior weather specialist Chris Perez said.

Residents have been advised to stay alert as flash floods or landslides are possible during moderate to at times heavy rains.
