BIFF camp seized in Maguindanao

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines — Government troopers overran a camp of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Ampatuan town on Friday.

Lt. Col. Omar Orozco of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion said the BIFF camp in Sitio Talpok, Barangay Salman could accommodate up to 50 people.

Orozco said three improvised explosive devices, bomb materials and various types of ammunition were found at the scene.

Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, Joint Task Force Central and 6th Infantry Division (ID) commander, said ground forces would sustain its offensive to neutralize BIFF leaders.

Various units of the 6th ID have been conducting clearing operations in Barangay Salman for two weeks now.
