Cop nabbed for shooting civilian

MANILA, Philippines — A police officer is facing charges for frustrated murder following a shooting in Trece Martires City, Cavite on Sunday.

M/Sgt. Paulo Gagua, 38, reportedly shot Hermes Guevarra, 36, in Barangay Inocencio at around 6:30 p.m.

According to a police report, Guevarra was playing volleyball with his friends when Gagua, who was believed to be drunk, arrived.

Witnesses said Gagua punched Guevarra and one of his companions.

The police officer reportedly followed the victim to his house and slapped Guevarra’s father. The suspect then dragged Guevarra into a creek and shot him in the stomach.– Ed Amoroso
