Leni, Erap to lead Independence Day rites

MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo will be joined by outgoing Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada during the commemoration of the country’s 121st Independence Day tomorrow.

Robredo and Estrada will lead the flag-raising and wreath-laying rites in Rizal Park.

“I will be with the Vice President on June 12 for the Independence Day celebration,” Estrada said yesterday.

The mayor’s staff said the event would be his only activity tomorrow, a regular non-working holiday.
