WATCH: Comelec holds dry run for proclamation of senators, party-lists
MANILA, Philippines— Despite the postponement of the proclamation of winning senators and party-lists on Tuesday, the red carpet is already rolled out and ready for the arrival of candidates who won in last week's midterm elections.
On Tuesday, the Commission on Elections held a dry run and rehearsed the arrival of the winning senators and party-lists.
The poll body employees, including Comelec Director Frances Arabe, acted out the arrival of candidates on the red carpet. Vehicles of mock candidates even had police escorts.
During the rehearsals, Arabe said winning senators and party-lists will be given time to pose for photos on the red carpet. They may also bring their own photographers.
The Comelec also rehearsed the proclamation of candidates. Senators-elect can pose for photos with their guests on a stage provided by the poll body.
Comelec spokesman James Jimenez initially said they were eyeing a joint proclamation ceremony for party-lists and senators. He later said the proclamations will be held separately since the venue will be set up differently for them.
Meanwhile, personnel of the Southern Police District also conducted a dry run to ensure security of all attendees during the proclamation.
Jimenez said President Rodrigo Duterte has not yet confirmed his attendance to the proclamation but the Comelec has prepared space for him and his entourage.
The Comelec postponed the proclamation of winning bets on Tuesday due to a delay in the transmission of the certificate of canvass from Washington DC.

Jimenez said the proclamation may push through on Wednesday or Thursday once the National Board of Canvassers completes the tabulation of all COCs.
