July 16 a holiday in Cordillera Administrative Region

BAGUIO CITY – July 16  is a special non-working holiday in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), which is celebrating its 31st anniversary. 

President Duterte declared the holiday under Proclamation 536 signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on Thursday to give residents full opportunity to participate in the celebration with fitting and appropriate ceremonies. 

The CAR was founded on July 15, 1987 under Executive Order 220 issued by then president Corazon Aquino. 

The CAR Regional Development Council requested the President to declare the holiday on Monday to allow residents to participate in various activities lined up for the weeklong celebration.
