2 lawmakers eyed as Erap's running mate
MANILA, Philippines — Two lawmakers are being considered to become Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada’s vice mayor in next year’s mid-term elections.
In a phone interview with The STAR yesterday, Estrada confirmed that Representatives Carlo Lopez and Rosenda Ann “Sandy” Ocampo, of second and sixth districts, respectively were applying to be his running mate for 2019.
“Yes, they were applying to become my vice mayor for next year’s polls. We have set a criteria for my tandem,” the mayor said.
Earlier, Estrada said he was eyeing a team up with fifth district Councilor Amado Bagatsing.
Estrada expressed belief that Bagatsing has the integrity and capability to handle the second highest post in the city.
Bagatsing lost to Estrada in the 2016 mayoral race.
