Victor Martin - The Philippine Star

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya  , Philippines  —   Police officers of Flora, Apayao were commended by the Chinese embassy for rescuing a Chinese man who was robbed and got lost in the province.

“We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the police officers of the Flora Municipal Police Station for their kindness and assistance,” Consul General Luo Gang wrote to the police. A copy of his letter was obtained by The STAR last Friday.

Changqui Zhuang, a Chinese tourist, had been robbed on his way from Ilocos to Apayao. The Flora police gave him medical assistance, water, food and clothing and took him in as their guest for a few days.

Senior Police Officer 1 Joel Angelo and Police Officer 3 Marxis Dumbab drove from Apayao to Manila to bring Zhuang to the Chinese embassy last Jan. 11.
