6 slain in clan war

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines – Six men have been killed in clashes between two Moro clans in North Cotabato since Saturday.

The fatalities were identified as Odin Bala, his brother Mesi and King Kambambalan of the Cua family and Zukarno Maguid and Lawan and Makungan Lakman of the Matalam clan.? 

The families are fighting for ownership of agricultural lands in Barangay General Luna in Carmen town. 

Army officials said more than 20 families were also displaced in the encounters. 

Superintendent Romeo Galgo Jr., spokesman for the Soccsksargen police; Senior Superintendent Emmanuel Peralta, North Cotabato police director, and representatives of Gov. Emmylou Taliño Mendoza are talking to the families to resolve the conflict.
