Garcia seeks permission to travel to Europe

Rhodina Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  Cebu Rep. Gwendolyn Garcia has asked the Sandiganbayan to allow her to travel to Europe on April 7 to 25.

In a four-page motion, Garcia through her lawyers said she would accompany her father former deputy speaker Pablo Garcia to Spain, Portugal and France.

“She will take this opportunity to visit Filipino communities in her capacity as deputy speaker and…representative of the third district of Cebu to discuss priority legislations,” Garcia’s motion read.

Garcia said Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez had approved her travel request.

Garcia has  pending graft and malversation cases before the second division of the anti-graft court over the alleged anomalous purchase of a 24.92-hectare property for a human settlement and seaport project  in Cebu when she was governor in 2008.
