MIND YOUR BODY - Rey Galupo, - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Two men were reported to have killed themselves in separate incidents in Quezon City and Manila since Sunday night.

Christian Don Laygo, 24, who worked as a mall sales staff, was found hanging in his house in Barangay Pansol, Quezon City at around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

His wife told police Laygo failed to respond to her knocks when she got home, prompting her to forcibly open the door to their room. She found her husband hanging by a nylon rope attached to a beam in the ceiling.

Their housemate cut the nylon cord and tried but failed to revive Laygo, police said.

Recovered at the scene was a note in which the victim apparently said he had been thinking of nothing but his wife and that he felt bad because of what happened to them.

In Manila, relatives of Pablo Calayan, 43, heard a gunshot before finding him dead in his room at past 7 a.m. yesterday.

According to Calayan’s mother Rosalina, 70, he had been jobless for more than three years and had shown signs of depression prior to killing himself.

She told police she saw her son enter his room and asked him what he was holding, but he remained silent.

Police Officer 3 Dennis Turla said the victim was declared dead on arrival at a hospital from a single gunshot wound in the temple.

A .22 caliber revolver and a suicide note were found beside the victim.
