4 rebels nabbed in Cavite

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Four alleged New People Army’s rebels were captured in General Trias, Cavite before dawn yesterday.

Authorities are verifying the identities of George Bruce, Rommel Nuñez, Jose Nayve and Armando Matres.

Police believe the suspects are members of the NPA’s Bagong Hukbong Makabayan movement.

Cavite police director Senior Superintendent Eliseo Cruz said the suspects yielded an improvised explosive device (IED), a .45 caliber pistol, ammunition, extortion letters and a vehicle.

The suspects were arrested after an IED placed on top of a manhole in Barangay Javalera exploded at around 2 a.m.

The suspects did not resist arrest.
