Student stabs classmate dead

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – A student was stabbed dead by his classmate in their classroom in Iloilo City yesterday morning.

Jaymark Barlan, 19, a freshman at Cabalum Western College on Iznart street, died while being treated at St. Paul’s Hospital for a stab wound in the chest.

Alison Hiceta, 21, surrendered to the school’s security guard after the incident, according to city police Station 1 deputy chief Senior Inspector Mark Cordero.

Witnesses said Hiceta attacked Barlan with a knife as the victim entered Room 201 at past 9 a.m.

Cordero said they have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
