P5-M shabu seized in Ilocos
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – At least half a kilo of shabu with a street value of P5 million was seized in a sting that also resulted in the arrest of four suspects in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte Sunday.
Darren dela Cruz, 22; his girlfriend Maricris Calara, 22, and cousins Jenephine and Elmer dela Cruz were arrested at an apartment in Laoag City, where an undercover agent was waiting for them.
The suspects had just arrived from Manila when police officers raided their apartment in Barangay 13 at around 3 a.m., said Superintendent Jeffrey Gorospe, city police chief.
The raiding team also recovered a .38 caliber revolver and drug paraphernalia from the suspects’ apartment.
Reports said Dela Cruz admitted to having picked up the drugs in Pasay City, but claimed he did not know the identities of his contacts.
He said he was just told to bring the contraband to Laoag City.
The drugs, the largest to be seized so far in Ilocos Norte, were packed in 10 large plastic sachets.
