MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Justice (DOJ) has indicted four Chinese nationals arrested by anti-narcotics agents during a raid on a storage facility in Pampanga that also resulted in the seizure of 185 kilos of shabu with a street value of P2 billion last September.
Jason Lee, his alleged wife Ying Ying Huang alias Sophia Lee, Willy Yap and Neil Tan were charged for the alleged manufacture and possession of illegal drugs before the San Fernando City regional trial court last Friday.
A resolution released by the DOJ yesterday showed the charges against the four Chinese were approved by Prosecutor General Claro Arellano.
It said Lee, Tan and Yao allegedly established and operated a shabu laboratory in a warehouse in Greenville Subdivision, Barangay San Jose.
The DOJ cited as evidence the illegal drugs and chemicals seized from the respondents last Sept. 12.
Huang was charged for possession of illegal drugs as she was arrested at her home and not in the laboratory.
Assisted by a public attorney, the respondents refused to answer the allegations during inquest proceedings last month. This prompted the investigating prosecutor to resolve the complaint without their reply.
Records show that aside from the P2 billion worth of shabu, the raiding team also seized 925 kilos of ephedrine, which could produce P8 billion worth of shabu, during the raid.
