MANILA, Philippines - Vice President Jejomar Binay yesterday urged boxing champion and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao to run for senator in 2016.
“Let us help each other to convince Congressman Manny Pacquiao to share his experience in being poor, and the help he is extending to the poor to be continued. I hope he will run for senator,” Binay said during a dialogue on the government’s housing program in General Santos City.
He said Pacquiao is among the possible senatorial candidates of the United Nationalist Alliance.
When asked if a Binay-Pacquiao tandem for the presidential elections is possible, the Vice President said the congressman still has to decide whether to run for senator.
Binay, who has announced he would run for president, said he has not yet decided on a running mate.
