MANILA, Philippines - Police rescued a three-week-old baby snatched from its sleeping mother along the bay area in Manila, early Monday.
Initial reports said policemen arrested the suspected baby snatcher, who was not immediately identified by the authorites, in Lawton area. The suspsect is believed to be a member of a syndicate using infants to beg during the holidays.
Police said the baby was snatched from its sleeping mother at the Baywalk area along Roxas Boulevard at around 3 a.m.The Manila police said that it has been on alert against the syndicate, which usually becomes more active before the holiday season.
