MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a red rainfall advisory for Metro Manila and three provinces on Friday morning.
The state weather bureau issued the advisory at 9 a.m. for Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan and Laguna.
According to the agency's color-coded rainfall classification, a red advisory means that torrential rains (more than 30 millimeters of rain) have been observed in the past hour and may persist in the next two hours.
PAGASA said severe flooding is expected in these areas.
An orange rainfall advisory was also issued for Zambales, where flooding is threatening.
A yellow rainfall advisory was also issued for Bataan, Cavite, Batangas and Quezon, where flooding in low-lying areas may still prevail.
Meanwhile, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains that may continue in the next three hours are affecting Pampanga, Nueva Ecija and Tarlac.
Luzon is currently being affected by Tropical Storm "Mario" and the southwest monsoon or "Habagat."
