NPA rebels burn heavy equipment in Nueva Ecija

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines – At least four heavy equipment being used in the rehabilitation of a riverbank in Barangay Pesa, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija were burned by suspected New People’s Army rebels on Monday.  

Senior Superintendent Walter Castillejos, Nueva Ecija director, said the rebels asked the workers for the whereabouts of a certain Israel Reguyal.

When the workers could not show Reguyal, the rebels poured gasoline, set the heavy equipment on fire and fled toward an unknown direction.  

Castillejos said police have launched a manhunt for the rebels.
