Candaba cobradors told: Forget jueteng

-
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The mayor and other local officials of Candaba town summoned some 700 displaced jueteng collectors (cobra—dors) last Monday and told them to "forget jueteng and focus on worthwhile activities."

This, as municipal and police officials, various religious groups and non-government organizations (NGOs) forged a covenant supporting the government’s campaign to eradicate all forms of illegal gambling, especially jueteng, in Pampanga.

Mayor Jerry Pelayo has instructed the concerned groups to organize a barangay network that will monitor, report and arrest jueteng collectors.

Pelayo has also organized the municipal anti-illegal operation task force focused on the campaign against jueteng in all barangays. — Ding Cervantes
