Surigao radio station attacked

BUTUAN CITY — Two unidentified men attacked an affiliate radio station of the Manila Broadcasting Co. in Surigao del Sur yesterday morning, destroying several equipment and pouring muriatic acid at the announcer’s booth, authorities said.

This was the second attack on dxRM Radyo Natin Tandag. In November last year, three armed men barged into the station, smashed equipment with a wooden bat and poured muriatic acid all over the place.

Former vice governor Johnny Pimen-tel said yesterday’s attackers pretended to be seeking assistance from the station. There was no immediate word if anybody was hurt during the attack.

Last February, Arvin Malasa, the station’s former manager, was wounded in an ambush by two motorcycle-riding men. — Ben Serrano
