MANILA, Philippines — A man believed to be involved in illegal drugs was shot dead by a motorcycle-riding assailant in Caloocan City on Sunday night.

Jerry Boy Pangilinan, 23, died on the spot from a gunshot to the head.

Police said Pangilinan was walking along Reparo street when the suspect opened fire at around 9:30 p.m.

Danilo Caralde Jr., chairman of Barangay 132, said Pangilinan was on the drug watchlist.

In Pasay, a woman was arrested after she tried to smuggle illegal drugs into the city jail on Sunday.

Jail guards allegedly confiscated two sachets of shabu and a rolled aluminum foil from Mergeline Falcunit, 29, of Barangay Maricaban.

City jail warden Chief Inspector Glennford Valdapenas said Falcunit visited her cousin, Jimboy Concepcion, who is being held at the facility’s male dormitory on drug charges at around 2 p.m.

Valdapenas said the suspect concealed the illegal drugs in her shoes.
