Shootings claim 3 lives

MANILA, Philippines - At least three persons were killed in shootings in Metro Manila over the past two days.

Merlinda Bolo was about to buy medicine for her sick husband when she was gunned down outside her home along South Zuzuarrige street in Barangay Old Balara, Quezon City just before 1 a.m. yesterday.

Recovered at the scene were 10 9mm cartridges, three .45 caliber shells and bullet fragments.

Three hours earlier, Joshua Fernandez, 20, was shot dead by still unidentified assailants along Republic Avenue in Barangay Holy Spirit.

Police recovered seven .45 caliber cartridges and five 9mm shells and some bullet fragments.

In Manila, Nora Acielo was walking her two sons to the Rosauro Almario Elementary School when an unidentified man shot her twice near Railroad street in Port Area at around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police have yet to determine the motive for the killings.
