Cabbie stabbed dead in QC

- Jerry Botial -

MANILA, Philippines - A cabbie who appeared to have resisted four robbers was stabbed dead yesterday in Quezon City.

Police Officer 2 Loreto Tigno said the body of Eduardo Aresta, 44, resident of 71 Quirino Highway, was found by a resident on his way home at around 2:30 a.m. yesterday at the corner of Thunderbird and Woodpecker streets in Zabarte Subdivision in Barangay Kaligayahan.

Aresta’s body was found a few hundred meters from his taxicab.

A witness asked barangay hall officials for assistance. Barangay public safety officers, led by Melvin Adorza, responded and called the police.

Witness Virgilio Ramos told investigators he saw at least four men armed with knives fleeing from the scene. Records show police found the victim’s driver’s license but his earnings and wallet were missing.

Crime scene investigators said the victim suffered stab wounds in the back and neck. His killers remain at large.
