MANILA, Philippines - Thirty-eight endangered species which are allegedly sold without permits have been rescued by authorities in a raid in Cartimar shopping center in Pasay City the other day.
The raid headed by City Wildlife bureau chief Dr. Ronaldo Bernasor yielded two owls,four horn bills, one Philippine Kite, two python, six imported snakes, 20 Philippine iguanas, and three Tawi-tawi brown doves.
Bernasor said the selling of the said animals was in violation of the Wild Life Act and violators can be meted with imprisonment. Bernasor said they have yet to file charges as the employees of Carmen’s Pet Shop and Marlyn’s Pet Shop have been denying that they own the animals.
