Quezon City Police District rejects 39 rookie cops
MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City Police District rejected 39 rookie policemen who underwent on-the-job training for failing to pass its “standards of acceptance.”
QCPD director Chief Superintendent Magtanggol Gatdula, in a report to Metro Manila police chief Director Leopoldo Bataoil, said the 29 of the 39 trainees failed to either attain passing grades in either the written or physical fitness tests last January, take the tests or make any effort to take the tests on another date.
The other 10 police officers were disqualified for cheating in the written exams.
“The most significant negative trait observed in the deficient trainees is their wrong attitude toward the regimented life of police service, considering their inability to follow simple and straight forward instructions like, ‘Report on this day for PFT,’ or ‘Do not glance at the answer sheet of your seatmate,’ even in the presence of sternly watchful training officers. So, how can they follow more sensitive orders like, ‘Don’t take bribes?’ Transformation should be instilled into their systems from the very beginning,” Gatdula said. – Reinir Padua
