NPD cop dismissed from service

A Northern Police District (NPD) cop was dismissed from the police service Friday for "serious neglect of duty."

PO3 Antonio Angeles Jr., assigned at the Navotas police station, was ordered dismissed by NPD director Chief Superintendent Leopoldo Bataoil.

"As much as we are concerned, we want to keep each member of the PNP (Philippine National Police) intact but we must let go of some incorrigibles," Bataoil told The STAR.

Records from the NPD-Internal Affairs Service (IAS) showed that from Dec. 8, 2004 to Nov. 29, 2005, Angeles incurred a total of 66 intermittent absences, only six of which were official.

"We are quick in recognizing the good deeds of our police officers but we will not tolerate abuses and omissions of a few so others may not be influenced," Bataoil said.

Bataoil said that all legal remedies have been exhausted for Angeles’s case. On Oct. 14, 2005, a notice to report for duty was even personally brought to his house at 131 R. Domingo st., Barangay Tangos, Navotas, by SPO4 Victor Luya.

However, the cop was not around. Non Alquitran
