Fish traders robbed on way to market

A family of fish traders on their way to buy their supply for the day’s sale in the local market was waylaid by still unidentified armed men, who took with them P100,000 in cash and valuables early yesterday morning in Navotas.

PO2 Rafael Espadero, officer on case, said victims Concepcion Dalida, 45, and her children Jenifer, 27 and Ronalyn, 17, and helper Arlene Joy Cabigno, 14, residents of Tagumpay street, Tondo, Manila, also lost a cell phone and assorted jewelry.

Records showed the robbery occurred at around 2:30 a.m. while the victims on board a tricycle were traveling along Road 10 in Barangay North Bay Boulevard North on their way to the Navotas Fishport Complex.

Unidentified armed men blocked their path and announced a holdup. The suspects then took their money intended for the day’s purchase of fish to be sold later in the day.

A manhunt for the suspects has been launched by the local police. – Jerry Botial
